Due to Anderson Silva's shoulder injury which he had during his most recent bout with Japanese Fighter Yushin Okami, it would seem that Chaen Sonnen's next fight would not be against the middleweight kingpin. According to Sonnen, he would rather opt to compete in another match-up rather than wait for the champion to heal.
Enter Mark Munoz, after his gutsy performance against Chris Leben, he has been thrust into the upper echelon of the middleweight division and is easily becoming one of the top contenders for the belt. Sources say that the rumored bout would be a number one contender bout to determine the next challenger.
Also rumored to be on the card would be a welterweight bout between Jake Ellenberger and Diego Sanchez, as well as a potential fight between Melvin Guillard and Jim Miller, who both lost in their recent outings which should have given them lightweight title shots respectively if they won.
It seems that if these rumors are true it would be a very entertaining card, and as a Filipino fight fan I would love for Munoz to shut Sonnen up and out and get the next title shot.
