Philippines’ Premier MMA & Hotel Companies Unite!

Manila, Philippines

F1, the Philippines’ First 5-star Hotel in Bonifacio Global City (BGC) is officially Pacific X-treme Combat’s hotel partner in PXC31!

Pacific X-treme Combat (PXC), Asia-Pacific's Premier Mixed Martial Arts Organization and Best Western F1 Hotel, BGC’s First Premier Hotel is proud to announce its tie-up for PXC31. The event is PXC’s 5th and arguably its biggest event in the country while it’s F1 Hotel’s largest promotional sports tie-up to date. The contract signing happened last April 16, 2012 at F1 Hotel’s Infinity Ballroom.

“F1 Hotel stands for the Fort’s first hotel and we are thrilled and honored to be the first. With the partnership with PXC, we’ve cemented ourselves as the first and only hotel in the country to accommodate local and international Mixed Martial Arts fighters. We’re very excited with this new venture,” says Mr. Hugh Campbell, F1 Hotel’s General Manager.

PXC31 will be held at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City and will feature a blockbuster championship match between a (Philippines) returning Justin “The Shocker” Cruz and one of Lakay fight camp’s top fighters, Crisanto “The Slugger” Pitpitunge. This will be for the PXC Bantamweight Championship.

Both men have had success in various MMA companies and in the PXC but have not faced each other. “The Shocker”, a Guam native, will be defending his belt and hasn’t lost a fight since securing the PXC Championship title in early 2010, while Pitpitunge contends after winning his first 3 matches in PXC events since last year. Justin Cruz was also an undefeated Champion in the URCC, and made the move to fight exclusively with Pacific X-treme Combat once they expanded internationally to the Philippines.

“Mixed Martial Arts has been growing rapidly globally and in the Philippines and PXC is proud to have supported and promoted the sport in the country since 2011. We see more and more Filipino MMA fans tune in to PXC to watch their kababayan (fellow Filipino) fight and see world-class MMA! This just shows how Filipinos are starting to accept this sport” exclaimed EJ Calvo, PXC Promoter.

PXC31 will also feature some of the best MMA talent in the Philippines, as well the return of PhilAm fighters Tristan Arenal and Alvin Cacdac, who have both competed in Strikeforce in the US, but now fight exclusively in Asia for PXC.

PXC31 is also presented by San Mig Strong Ice and AKTV on IBC13 with special thanks to E-games, FHM Philippines, Beer Below Zero, Healthway Agility Phil, Real Sports and Loqal.ph.
